Jewellery designer Viktor Pavlov, graduated of the “Metal” Department of the National Academy of Fine Arts in Sofia, Bulgaria, often uses recycled materials with the aim is to reflect the problem of eco-fashion and to raise awareness toward the overuse of non-degradable materials.
In his newest collection “GEMS”, the gemstone is a precious stone distinguished for its beauty or rarity used in jewellery. During many centuries they were valued especially for their high price and physical characteristics: the uniqueness of the uncut raw stones, the glow of the faceted ones, their translucency and brilliance, the vividness and variety in colours, the habits of the minerals and the specific inclusions in some of them. Fascinated by these qualities and the symbolical meaning of the gems, the designer asked himself: why could not be created pieces of jewels having these characteristics but without using the real material of precious stones?
So the result is GEMS where G stands for Genius, E – for Ethereal, M – for non-Materialistic and S – for stones.
