SPOT ON FINLAND: MUKA VA

MUKA VA practices “Pure Not Boring” ideology, which means pure scandinavian design, ethical manufacture nearby and high quality materials. At MUKA VA purity doesn’t equal to boring design. MUKA VA is known for their interesting shapes, cuts and textures. Designerduo Anna Mattelmäki and Emilia Kiialainen create a unique atmosphere for each collection. MUKA VA produces their collections in Finland in co-operation with small textile companies such as Orneule, Tamsilk, Kutomo Holopainen, Printscorpio and ompelimo Pirkko Niemi. MUKA VA also uses textile leftover from bigger companies to create smaller editions of certain classic models. The designers are inspired by pattern making and shaping two-dimensional patterns into three-dimensional products.
