The conceptual designers’ platform IVAN ASEN 22 in Sofia, Bulgaria is an innovative initiative for creating, developing and presenting designers’ concepts, involving young designers of the new, professionally educated generation. Founded in 2007 by the designer Neli Mitewa, IVAN ASEN 22 developed and follows a unique curatorial concept, reacting on the difficulties each young designer has to cope with: missing investments, missing production possibilities, and a limited market for designers’ clothes in Bulgaria. A group of designers are working upon a common theme, thus elaborating a co-authors’ collection which IVAN ASEN 22 assists to be presented at exhibitions, fashion shows, designers’ fairs.
For the fifth consecutive year now, IVAN ASEN 22 will show at Modepalast the works of a selected representative group of outstanding Bulgarian and Macedonian fashion designers: YOD by Yana Dvoretska, Igor Ilijovski, Georgi Florov, Inna Gabrovska, Dilyana Ivanova, Rosica Mrsic, Dinka Kasabova, nelmit, jewels by Kalina Chankova, Viktor Pavlov and Jina Sheovska, as well as the new young label Prototype 23 as part of the platform’s politics to promote new talents. The collections are adapted to the high demands for perfect design and manufacture quality, natural materials, sustainability and stand behind the idea of “slow” and ethical fashion.
